Ok it is not Blue a la Frank Sinatra, but it is Blueberry, pie that is. Trying this simple online recipe: http://www.pickyourown.org/blueberrypie.php Of course I am using the crumb toppings as I do on all my pies, so much more interesting.
Tonight we are being joined by 2 of our closest neighbors, regulars Jon & Monica and our lovely Nanci (thanks for picking us up at the airport last week!). The usual is on the menu tonight; SUSHI, otherwise known as the New Gefilte Fish. I hope to further explore our obsession with sushi in the orthodox world. Is it a visceral reaction from years of bland, heavy, overcooked shtetl fare? (Notice I didn't say 'cuisine'). I welcome all gastro-analysts to share their thoughts.
Sunday we return to the pre-yom-tov cook and freeze fest. So far we have several kugels and soups done. I am adding potato/zucchini soup to the menu. We had it this past shabbos in Toronto, it is from their 'Gatherers' cookbook. The Thornhill community has a very wonderful Teanecky feel to it.

the bathroom renovations have begun
Dust is everywhere and the contents of the hall closet are all over the dining room. However much this pains my psyche the husband is still insisting on inviting guests this shabbat. We will already be hosting 2 sleepovers for a singles shabbaton, but meals too? Stay tuned and see if I survive the week.......a production move, continued renovations, and a fast day.......
